Inside Sales Representative

Supervisor:         Business Manager

Purpose:  The effective Inside Sales Representative will generate sales by systematically cold calling on new prospects as well as maintaining clients that have been previously established.  The goal of the position is to generate new sales through phone and face to face meetings.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Exceed expectations
  2. Maintain and exceed monthly and annual sales revenue targets as defined and agreed upon
  3. Sell services at a minimum of 50% gross profit unless approved otherwise
  4. Maintain an accurate forecast
  5. Maintain up-to-date call logs and documentation of productivity (emails do not count as phone contact)
  6. Daily documented productivity of a minimum of 25 calls per day and 125 per week
  7. Establish a minimum of 2 appointments per week with a goal of 5 per week
  8. Continuous self study of the industry, products and sales
  9. Learn and understand the business accounts that are worked with
  10. Attend networking, vendor and other presentations as required
  11. Attend classes to better skill sets and understand what the courses cover
  12. Work directly with the Business Manager in proposal writing
  13. Ramp up for outside sales and Account Management

Primary Actions

Phone and email contact with prospects and clients on a daily basis.  Personal, phone and email interaction with fellow Team Members.

Time allocation (per day based on an 8-hour day)

  • Cold calls and prospecting – 40% – (3.2 hrs)
  • Tasks and Daily follow-up – 30% (2.4 hrs)
  • Product research and self study – 10% (.8 hrs)
  • Internal meetings – 10% (.8 hrs)
  • Miscellaneous – 10%  (.8 hrs)
  • Outside meetings as scheduled

Qualifications

  • Bright, energetic and service oriented personality with strong networking abilities
  • Strong oral communication skills and the ability to have a well structured conversation
  • Demonstrable PC literacy and outstanding written, oral, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Good professional judgment, self-starter with the ability to work independently and to understand/match customers needs with Company services

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.  Previous sales experience is a must.

  • Setup classroom and books prior to 9AM (.8 hrs) and misc.
  • Enter office and set up
  • Cold calls and prospecting (3.2 hrs) – 20 call minimum
  • Lunch
  • Tasks and daily follow up (2.4 hrs) – email and calls to follow up with established clients; certificates, prepare for next day; update forecast; set up and attend meetings
  • Self study  – (.8 hrs)
  • Motivational internal meeting (.8 hrs)
